I Briefly Borrowed Someone Else's Life
Wrong train, wrong stop, wrong key in a door that opened anyway. You're back now. Mostly.
The scenario
You took the wrong train, walked into the wrong apartment, used a key that worked when it shouldn't have, and lived someone else's morning for forty-five minutes before realizing your mistake.
There was a cat that wasn't yours. There was a fridge full of unfamiliar snacks. There was a calendar on the wall with appointments you didn't have. You made coffee. You watered a plant. You answered an email addressed to someone named Marcus. You are not Marcus.
When the real Marcus came home and didn't notice you were there because he was on a phone call, you slipped out, returned the key to where you'd somehow gotten it, and resumed your actual life slightly different than before.
Why it works
A surreal anxiety dream rendered as an excuse. It taps into the universal 'wait, what if I just wandered into someone else's life' fantasy.
How to deliver it
- ★Use the name Marcus. The name Marcus is funny.
- ★Mention the plant. You watered the plant.
- ★Refuse to identify the building.
- ★Insist this changed you, just slightly.
