A Squirrel Took My Charger
He needed it more than you did. Or so he believes.
The scenario
Your phone was at 4%, you left it on the porch for thirty seconds, and now a squirrel is sprinting across the lawn dragging your charger cable behind him like a tiny, electronic streamer.
He's been planning this. Squirrels case porches. They know where the snacks are, where the dog bowls are, where the unattended cables are. You watched, helpless, as he sprinted up a fence, leapt to a tree branch, and disappeared into a tangle of leaves with your last hope of a charged phone.
Your phone is now dead. Your charger is now part of a squirrel's life. Your morning is, scientifically, ruined. You will be late. You wanted you to know.
Why it works
Charger loss is a universally felt mini-tragedy. Adding a squirrel makes it cute. It's the alibi equivalent of comfort food.
How to deliver it
- ★Lean into the helplessness.
- ★Use the phrase 'tiny electronic streamer.' It's a strong image.
- ★End on 'phone is dying, more later' for maximum credibility.
- ★Buy a real new charger before they ask to see it.
